Features of the Texas Panhandle War Memorial

Granite Archway

The Texas Panhandle War Memorial design was proposed by Mr. Bill Willis, owner of Willis Granite Products and member of the Citizen's Memorial Committe, the group in charge of making the Texas Panhandle War Memorial a reality. Upon completion, the Memorial featured an archway of entering the Memorial composed of red grantie reading "Texas Panhandle War Memorial", with an inscription beneath it reading "In Honor of Our Men and Women That Gave Their Time and Lives to Preserve Our American Way of Life."

Circular Garden

After entering through the granite archway continue around the circumference of the Memorial and delight in the circular garden featuring red, white and blue flowers, maintained by local Potter-Randall County Master Gardeners. Large granite monoliths in the garden provide an overview of each war and confrontation. Behind each monolith, the names of missing veterans from the Texas Panhandle are inscribed on additional granite tables.

Flags

The center of the Texas Panhandle War Memorial is a circular base made of concrete which holds up three poles. Flying proudly from each pole is the American, Texas and Prisoner of War/Missing in Action flags.
