Reynolda House Museum of American Art Collection
While the Reynolda House Museum of American Art’s collection began with nine paintings including works by Frederic Church, Gilbert Stuart, Albert Bierstadt, William Harnett, and William Merritt Chase, today mediums in the American Art collection include paintings, ceramics, drawings, mixed media, photographs, prints, and sculpture. Within the Reynolda House Museum of American Art you will discover displays of furnishings selected by Katharine Reynolds to decorate her home in the height of fashion for early 20th-century America. Among the furnishings you can marvel at fine works of art from the Museum’s collection that spans from 1755 to the present. Notable artists whose works are displayed throughout the Reynolda House Museum of American Art include Mary Cassatt, Frederic Church, Jacob Lawrence, Georgia O’ Keeffe and Grant Wood.
Reynolda Gardens
Take a stroll through Reynolda Gardens. The formal garden has been restored to the appearance of the early 20th century design. In the Conservatory you will find exotic plants and working greenhouses filled with plants for the gardens and for sale. The woodland trails are great for bird watching. A wetland and a meadow of Piedmont native plants provide habitat for wildlife and offers opportunities to enjoy and learn about North Carolina nature.
Reynolda Village
Reynolda Village is made up of unique shops and restaurants housed in historic buildings that once supported the Reynolda House. From apparel to home furnishings and accessories, art galleries to specialty shops, Reynolda Village’s shops are filled with treasures of all sorts. Bring your visit to an end at one of Reynolda Village’s restaurants. Offering everything from coffee and pastries, to hot and cold sandwiches, fresh salads and filet mignon, Reynolda Village restaurants are perfect whether you want to stop for refreshments or a full meal.
