Visiting the Myriad Botanical Gardens

During your visit to this Oklahoma City attraction, explore Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory, stroll along peaceful paths and delight in the gardens and grounds featuring magnificent plants from around the world, or dine in the Park House or Ice House. Guests of all ages and backgrounds can find a place in which to find solitude with nature at the Myriad Botanical Gardens.

Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory

One of the Myriad Botanical Gardens’ main attractions is its Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory. 224 feet long and covered by 3,028 sections of translucent, double-layered acrylic panels, the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory has been recognized in the architectural community for its unique design. Inside 13,000 square feet of plant display area include over 2,000 varieties of tropical plants broken into two distinct zones: the Wet Tropical Zone and Dry Tropical Zone.  In addition the state-of-the-art conservatory includes a 35-foot waterfall over “Wet Mountain.” Two pumps push a total of 60 to 80 gallons of water over the waterfall every minute.

Myriad Botanical Gardens Outdoor Grounds

The Myriad Botanical Gardens outdoor grounds showcase a wide range of gardens and collections illustrating its ever-widening diversity of plants as well as distinctive gardens that celebrate Oklahoma City’s identity. Stroll along the paths of the Myriad Botanical Gardens’ outdoor grounds. You can marvel at the cascading waterfalls, relax on a bench, and take in the sounds of the city amid the foliage of the botanical gardens that change colors with the seasons.

Water Features

Be sure to visit the Myriad Botanical Gardens outdoor water features operating seasonally. Thunder Fountain, with its mosaic blue cloud sculpture atop pillars that resemble tornadoes, mimics a  storm cycle.  Watch as flashes stimulate lightning and listen to the booms that represent thunder. At the end of the 15-minute cycle, water sprays from the ground to mimic the growth of the Indian paintbrush flowers of Oklahoma. Myriad Botanical Gardens’ Seasonal Plaza, located near the botanical gardens’ restaurant area, features a long reflecting pool punctuated by undulating fountain jets.

Dining at the Myriad Botanical Gardens

Myriad Botanical Gardens is home to the Park House and Ice House restaurants. In the Park House restaurant, you can enjoy American contemporary food amid a beautiful seasonal setting. At the Ice House try Nic’s burgers, along with fries and a shake.  The Ice House is Oklahoma City’s favorite burger joint and has been featured on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives,” and in Slice Magazine. 

Travel Tip

-          From November through December you can enjoy a festive outdoor atmosphere complete with lights, ice skating, and a fine selection of boutique-style vendors at the Myriad Botanical Gardens.
