Visiting the Plantation

Gardens

There is the indoors Barbados tropical garden and the Biblical gardens that features all the plants that are mentioned in the bible. There is also the Cattail Wildlife Refuge that also comes with a tower where visitors can observe the different birds in the gardens. Other features in the garden include the Flowerdale, the Maze which looks just like the Hampton Court Maze in England, the Swamp Garden, and the Cypress lake. You can choose to explore the gardens by taking the Tram tour or simply walk through the magnificent gardens.

Just behind the house, there is a vast lawn where weddings and other events are often hosted. There is also a lake and a collection of swamps with bridges where visitors can take a vintage look of this beautiful plantation.

The house

The Drayton family home is nothing short of magnificent. This is the third home on this site and everything from the architecture to the finishing speaks of pure opulence. 10 of the rooms in this house are open to the public and the American antique quilts and Porcelain will take you a few centuries back. There is also a history room where a guide will answer your questions and offer information on who the current owners are, among other plantation details.

Through the guided house tour, you will learn about the Drayton Family and the fate of the two houses that preceded the current house.
