Your Visit to Quebec City

Delight in the French charm of Old Quebec City, or the stunning scene of Parliament Hill. During your Guided Tour of Quebec, you’ll see the highlights of the city with a friendly and knowledgeable step-on-guide.

Old Quebec City

The Historic District of Quebec is comprised of the Upper Town and Lower Town. Located on a hill, the Upper Town was chosen by Samuel de Champlain in 1620 as the site of the Saint-Louis Fort. Since that day, it has remained the religious and administrative centre of the city.  At the foot of the hill is Lower Town made up of ancient districts built around Place Royale. Together the Upper and Lower Towns form an urban ensemble which is one of the best examples of a fortified colonial city. Delight in the beauty of the churches, converts and other monuments like the Citadel in the Upper Town and the Old Port in the Lower Town.

The Château Frontenac

Situated in Old Quebec’s Upper Town is the Château Frontenac. Built in the Château style, the building is an imposing hotel with five brick and stone wings and a central tower built in seven stages between1892 and 1993. Overlooking the Saint Lawrence River, the hotel is generally recognized as the most photographed hotel in the world, in large part because of how it dominates the city’s skyline.

Place Royale

In Old Quebec’s Lower Town is Place Royale, the birthplace of French America. As you pass through the historic site, learn about the cradle of French civilization in North America, admire the historic Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, the oldest stone church in North America and lookout for Fresque des Québécois, a mural which retraces 400 years of the city’s history.

The Old Port

Since established during the 19th century, Quebec City’s Old Port has been a hive of activity from its beginnings as one of the world’s five biggest ports to its present day status as a popular cruise destination. Delight in the charm of Old Port’s inviting antique shops, art galleries and sidewalk cafés as you pass by on your bus tour.

Plains of Abraham

Within Battlefields Park is the historic Plains of Abraham. Step back in time as your tour guide tells of the many clashes between the French and British Empires that lead to the 1759 Conquest on the Plains of Abraham, an event that would change North America’s fate.

Parliament Hill

A welcoming oasis in the heart of Quebec City, Parliament Hill is dominated by the Parliament Building (French: Hôtel du Parlement) and is where Quebec’s National Assembly has convened for over a century. Delight in the buildings Second Empire architectural style and the Fontaine de Tourney which complements the Parliament Building.

Fontaine de Tourney

Standing in front of the Parliament Building the Fontaine de Tourney was a gift to Quebec City on its 400th anniversary from the Simons department stores. Dedicated in July of 2007, the fountains 43 water jets, arresting masks and graceful figures immediately draw the eye of the passerby.
