Visiting Copper King Mansion

During your visit to this Butte, Montana attraction, a guide will lead you through the 34-room Victorian mansion. Not only will you learn about history of the building and the past of people who built it and made it their home, but about the many unique aspects of the Mansion’s construction, operation and the original furnishings within.

Highlights of Copper King Mansion

Copper King Mansion is a splendid example of Victorian elegance and architecture. Inside the 34-room Mansion are nine fireplaces with hand-carved mantel pieces, Tiffany-style stained glass windows, hand-painted frescoed ceilings and mosaic floors, all custom made for Copper King Mansion by European craftsmen. Original furnishings and collections that belong to the current owners of Copper King Mansion are on display throughout.

The Master Bedroom

See where multi-millionaire William Andrews Clark once slept. The Master Bedroom at Copper King Mansion features sycamore woodwork, a hand-carved fireplace, a burled walnut bed and a matching dresser. An adjoining sitting room is graced with a fireplace and a spacious bathroom featuring beautiful stained glass windows, a remarkable collection of antique combs and beaded purses.

The Family Suite

Originally used by the Clark family as a private room, the Family Suite is a large room with two full-sized African mahogany sleigh beds.  The room’s massive bay windows allow light to shine through and provide an airy feel. Look up to see the fresco-painted ceiling. Additional features include an original hand-carved cherry wood fireplace and an adjoining bathroom with a clawfoot tub.

Huguette’s Room

Named after William Clark’s son Huguette, Hugette’s Room features a rose theme. The room boasts a queen size bed and matching set of furniture crafted from Carpathian burled walnut. While Huguette’s Room is equipped with a sink, it shares a bathroom with Andree’s Room.

Andree’s Room

Andree’s Room includes oak woodwork and is furnished with 1920’s style Art Deco furniture, Waterfall Walnut. The room includes a double bed and private sink. It shares a bathroom with both the Hugette’s and Butler’s Rooms.

Butler’s Room

The Butler’s Room is where the Clark family’s butler would have slept. It is a snug, cozy quarter for one with a bed and matching wardrobe and dresser.
