Indoor Collections

Fuqua Orchid Center

Within the Botanical Garden’s Fuqua Orchid Center is the High Elevation House, featuring plants found in the Cloud Forest of the Andes Mountains in South America. The focal point of the High Elevation House is a wonderful waterfall constructed of Georgia granite boulders and dotted with flowered Andean orchids such as Odontoglossum, Masdevallia and Phragmipedium. Neotropical blueberries bearing bright clusters of tubular flowers and exotic bromeliads are also featured in the High Elevation House.  Additionally, the Fuqua Orchid Center houses the Orchid Display House, with all the elements of a formal garden: geometrically shaped beds, a symmetrical design and architectural accents.

Fuqua Conservatory

The Fuqua Conservatory is teeming with plant and animal life.  Enter through the Lobby and watch poison arrow frogs in a naturalistic setting. In the Tropical Rotunda, you will come across hundreds of species from the equatorial regions of the world. The Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Desert House features succulent collections native to Madagascar and Southern Africa.  See, touch and smell some the plants that are important in our daily lives in the Orangerie, home to a wide range of tropical and sub-tropical species of high economic and medicinal importance. Be sure to look out for the many animals that live in Fuqua Conservatory, from the South American yellow saffron finches flying about the canopy to the tropical wood turtles and tortoises openly bask in their terrestrial habitat.
