The Sights of Niagara Region

Well and Canals Centre

As you journey toward Niagara-on-the-Lake, your first stop will be at the Well and Canals Centre. Your front row ticket to watch the ships of the Great Lake, the Well and Canals Centre sits on an elevated observation platform that allows you to see ships from around the world as they navigate Lock 3 on their way through the St. Lawrence Seaway System. Inside the centre discover the St. Lawrence Seaway System’s past and present through a short 15-minute film and interactive exhibits throughout the centre.

 

Wine Country

As you continue toward Niagara-on-the-Lake, take in the picturesque surroundings of the colorful vineyards and wineries many reflective of those found in Tuscany. Both small boutique wineries and celebrity wineries can be spotted throughout the region and bring a wonderful diversity to the area.

 

Canada’s Fruit Belt

Heading toward Niagara-on-the-Lake you will pass through the region’s, “Fruit Belt”. With a moist, mild climate, it’s the ideal location for growing a wide variety of fruits. Over 90% of Canada’s grapes and other soft fruits are grown in Canada’s, “Fruit Belt”. While most of the fruit production goes to surrounding canneries and wineries, some fresh fruit is available to purchase at roadside stands or in local stores.
