Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture Collection
The Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture’s collections numbers over 68,000 objects in three disciplines, including Regional History, Fine Art and American Indian Art.
Regional History
The Museum’s Regional History Collection is broadly represented by regional themes, including exploration, settlement, economics, communications and domestic arts. Of great significance is an extensive textile collection with quilts and clothing from the mid-19th century to the present.
American Indian Art
Included in the American Indian Collection, representing culture groups throughout the Americas, is one of the finest collections of Plateau material culture in the United States, including 10,000 photographic images of Plateau Indian culture as well as works by living American Indian artists and artisan of the Plateau Tribes.
Fine Art
The Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture’s Fine Art Collection is comprised of regional contemporary art and art by renowned artists from the region. Among the collection’s highlights are works by: Doug Safranek, Kristen Capp, James Lavadour, Jim Hodges and Patti Warashina as well as a major installation piece by Edward and Nancy Reddin Kienholz.
Campbell House and the Carriage House Visitor Center
On the grounds of the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture is the Campbell House and Carriage House Visitor Center. Experience the early 1900s in the former home of Amasa B. Campbell and his wife Grace. In Carriage House Visitor Center, you can explore transportation and house restoration themes as well as a whole host of artifacts and documents collected by the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture. The Campbell House explores the changes in business, community life and technology that affected the Campbell household, its servants and its community during the early 20th century.
