Museum of Texas Tech University
Permanent and special exhibitions on the first and second floors of the main building showcase the Museum’s collections in the arts, humanities and sciences. The collection numbers over five million objects.
Diamond M Gallery
The addition of the Diamond M Gallery in 1996 was built to house and exhibit the Museum’s impressive collection of the late Clarence Thurston and Evelyn Claire Littleton McLaughlin. Most items belonging to the collection have been on display in the Diamond M Gallery. Works from the collection are changed periodically in order to meet the wishes of the Diamond M Foundation, who wanted the collection to be available for public enjoyment and education.
William C. and Evelyn M. Davies Gallery of Southwest Indian Art
The Museum’s Southwest Indian Art Collection, funded by William C. and Evelyn M. Davies, has been built around the Davies’ extensive collection of Southwest Indian Art. See artifacts from the collection showcased throughout the art gallery including pottery, textiles and paintings.
Helen DeVitt Jones Auditorium and Sculpture Court
Helen DeVitt Jones Auditorium and Sculpture Court was inspired by philanthropist and patron, Helen DeVitt Jones, who dreamed the Museum should be place for everyone to enjoy and a cultural hub for the community. Today the 48,000-square-foot addition honors Jones’ wish. It features such facilities as the Special Exhibitions Gallery and the monumental outdoor sculpture Landmark by Horace Farlowe.
Moody Planetarium
Moody Planetarium at the Museum of Texas Tech University boasts state-of-the-art equipment and programs. Catch one of Moody Planetarium’s daily shows about science and astronomy. The Planetarium’s full-dome digital projection system creates a brilliant, seamless image over the entire 30-foot surface of the dome, extending beyond ones peripheral vision and leading to an experience that is fully immersive and engaging.
