Carolina Opry, Myrtle Beach, SC

Experience the Carolina Opry, South Carolina’s Most Outstanding Attraction, as part of this Myrtle Beach vacation package. In the late 1980s, Calvin Gilmore brought a new sound to Myrtle Beach, The Carolina Opry. From its humble beginnings in a 1,000-seat theater in Surfside Beach, the sound of the Carolina Opry grew until shows were sold out night after night, so Gilmore started a second show, The Dixie Jubilee. When it too sold out, night after night, Calvin Gilmore merged the two shows together in a new 2,200-seat, state-of-the-art theater and created the Carolina Opry. Housed in the Calvin Gilmore Theater in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the Carolina Opry is the only show to be voted the state’s Most Outstanding Attraction by the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism. It has been recognized by USA Today, The New York Times, The New York Post, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety Magazine, NBC Nightly News, The Charlotte Observer and CNN.
