Established by French settlers in the 18th century, Colonial Michilimackinac was originally built to control the fur trade, development of the upper Great Lakes and as a military outpost. Today it sits on the land known as Fort Michilimackinac State Park.
Today life at Colonial Michilimackinac continues as it did in the 1700s. Give colonial women a hand in the kitchen or garden, or join Native Americans as they demonstrate their daily ways of life. The historical reenactment at Colonial Michilimackinac is like no other, it will give you a better understanding of the past and the impact it has had on the present.
