Defining Musical Cool
Beginning in the 1920’s gentlemen and ladies both, began defining musical cool. This style of top-notch singing emphasized smoothly emotional vocals backed by either a full orchestra, a big band, or a piano. By the early 1930’s, the term “crooner” had taken on an unfavorable connotation though. The New York Times even predicted that crooning would be just a passing fad. By 1954, Rock n’ Roll and other new music styles began dominating the music industry and crooning was soon categorized by radio stations as ‘easy listening’ or ‘adult contemporary’. However, crooners have remained popular amongst fans of traditional pop music and many songs continued to be featured in popular film sound tracks.

The lady crooners certainly aren’t forgotten either, as performances honor the lovely ladies such as Ella Fitzgerald and Rosemary Clooney. This show also honors similarly-soulful current musicians including Michael Buble, Diana Krall, and Harry Connick Jr. With expert lighting and sound technicians, seasoned set designers, and world class musicians from all over the country, Crooners positively puts on fantastic live musical entertainment in every fresh and invigorating way possible!
An American Music Theatre Original
The American Music Theater, located in historic Lancaster, Pennsylvania, debuted in 1997 with a breathe taking proscenium theater seating up to 1600 for any one of their 300 live performances a year. Grammy winners, CMA winners, Tony winners, Opry Legends, as well as Oscar Winners have all graced AMT’s stage since 1997. In addition to award winning artists, the theater also hosts acclaimed Original Shows, national Broadway tours, and Las Vegas style show series throughout the year.
