“Postcards from a Heritage of Faith” is a captivating 17-minute movie that explores the origins, history and faith of the Mennonite people. It also presents the importance of their four core values: Community, Following Christ, Mission and Service, and what distinguishes them from the Amish. The History of the Biblical Tabernacle Reproduction

Built in the 1940’s by a Baptist minister from St. Petersburg, Florida, the Biblical Tabernacle reproduction was intended to resemble the, “Moses Tabernacle in the Wilderness”. However when it was later purchased by the Mennonites, they joined it with the Mennonite Information Center.

 

The Biblical Tabernacle Today

Located in a building with high ceilings and great acoustics, the Biblical Tabernacle has been precious to those involved in Biblical and cultural studies and visitors alike for over 60 years. Follow a guide versed in scriptural texture and the great importance of the tabernacle and its furnishings as they bring the history of the Bible to life. From the extraordinary Brazen Altar to the Ark of the Covenant, you’ll find the tour of the Biblical Tabernacle fascinating regardless of your religious, ethnic and cultural background. This one-of-a-kind exhibit is the highlight of many visitors’ trips to the Amish country.

 

The High Priest

As you explore the Biblical Tabernacle, don’t forget to look for the high priest who presides in the Holy Place. Separated from the people by a traditional veil, the full-sized, wax figure wears authentic robes covered in precious stones, and its breastplate is embedded with gold. Careful time and research was put into the making of the high priest, not one tiny detail was neglected. Even the Golden Candlestick and Table of Shew Bread were made to exact size.

Don’t forget to explore the Mennonite Information Center’s walk-through exhibit with further enlightening information about the ways of the, “plain people”.
